Falls Brook Centre Staff
Jean Arnold, Executive Director of Falls Brook Centre 1992 - present 
Jean is also one of three negotiators for the International Program of The Canadian Environment Network and a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Organic Growers. Internationally she is an executive member of the Board of Directors of the International Analog Forest Network, and the contact person for North America.
Sophie-Michèle Cyr: Restoration Forestry Coordinator
Sophie-Michèle works with Falls Brook Centre, coordinating participatory community development using asset mapping with a cross section of social development leaders, local entrepreneurs, community leaders, forest workers and local artisans. She is currently managing the Acadian Forest Restoration Nursery and plantings on-site and she also runs her family’s Christmas tree operation in Northern New Brunswick. She is francophone and knows a wonderful array of traditional French folk songs! Sophie-Michèle studied biology with a focus on plant ecology at Laval University in Quebec.
Hannah Dodd: Garden & Kitchen Assistant
Hannah is a great gardener and helps with all aspects of site maintenance and food preparation (an expert and our resident cookie maker). She is also working in the education department and has organized four annual Fall Fairs.
Jenny DeMarco: Biodiversity Restoration
Jenny hails from the Pacific Coast, Vancouver, British Columbia. She has a B.A. in Environment and Development, and a minor in Economics from McGill University in Montreal. She has worked with Falls Brook Centre’s biodiversity restoration project in Havana and Guantanamo, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Honduras.
Shannon Herbert: Organic Agriculture Coordinator
Shannon is from the Gaspereau Valley in Nova Scotia and has been a keen New Brunswicker since 2002, taking up the role of FBC Organic Agriculture Coordinator in 2007. Onsite Shannon is responsible for maintaining the OCIA certification of Falls Brook Centre’s 400 acres of Acadian forest, CSA, mixed kitchen gardens and orchards. Off-site Shannon manages her own small mixed farm; where she raises Cotswold Sheep, Barred Plymouth Rock chickens and a market garden.
Dana Kittilsen: Communication Coordinator

Dana Kittilsen was born and raised in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia and has been traipsing through the maritime forests his whole life. He began studying International Development and Spanish through the University of King’s College. Dana returned to the woods when he came to Falls Brook Centre and has now joined the staff as the Communication Coordinator.
Greg LeBlanc: Renewable Energy Program

Greg was born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He has a strong interest in connecting communities, people, and ideas, and is solutions oriented. He has a BA (classics & philosophy) and an M.Phil (policy studies in community development) from UNB. Greg work in the renewable energy program at Falls Brook, as well as the Climate Change Bus and related projects. He is currently coordinating a renewable energy information hub for Northwest New Brunswick, and will be developing a number of workshops related to Net Zero living through to 2011. Sal McIntosh: Naturalist & Trails Maintenance
Sal is an exceptional birder, naturalist and builder. She has built most of the trails at Falls Brook Centre & designed & hand-drawn or painted much of the signage on native fauna and flora that is displayed throughout the trail system. She runs her own small maple syrup operation, organic gardens and trout fish pond from her home farm located on Ketchum Ridge (about 15 minute drive from FBC).
Alison Shurvell: Community Outreach and Education
Alison Shurvell grew up in Calgary, Alberta and moved to New Brunswick to work at Falls Brook Centre after studying International Development Studies at the University of Calgary.
Shawn Shaw: Garden & Kitchen Assistant
Born in Quebec, Shawn lives down the road and has raised her family in Knowlesville. She is an experienced gardener and excellent cook. She also runs a small maple sugar operation and mixed livestock raising on her own farm.
Leland Wong-Daugherty: Builder & Graphic Artist
Leland has a long history with Falls Brook Centre as our principal artist. He painted the large sunflower mandala on the side of the barn, he is our web designer & graphic artist that we call upon for all manner of publications, illustrations and multimedia projects. He also built the strawbale forest museum and timberframe porches on the main house at FBC. He lives next door with his family and is currently building a timber-frame strawbale home.
Tegan Wong-Daugherty: Sustainable Community Design & Natural Building Outreach Coordinator
Tegan has worked in various capacities at Falls Brook Centre for 10 years, from education coordinator to tree nursery manager to FBC’s India child rights program coordinator. She is a mother of two young children and currently works part-time coordinating outreach and education on sustainable community design, global education & natural building.
