Manure Management, and Backyard Composting 101: Turning waste into fertilizers to enrich our soils. Hosted at the Falls Brook Centre; this workshop will answer your questions about how to start and maintain your backyard compost pile, with consideration to run-off prevention and watershed health as you recycle your kitchen, yard and farm waste into nutrient rich fertilizer for your organic garden. Planning and Mapping for Diversion and Erosion
Explore the maintenance and protection of clean and healthy watersheds in regards to land development, agricultural and recreational use. We will take a closer look the Environmental Farm Plan and examine no-till practices.
Guest Speakers include John Russell (Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick), Jerome Damboise (Soil and Water Conservation Centre) and Cedric MacLoed (MacLoed Agronomics Ltd). This workshop will be held at the Potato Development Centre in Wicklow. Registration is 25$ and FREE to Farmers. The day will run from 9am-14pm and includes a homemade organic lunch. We will take the day to take a look at the different and innovative systems inwaste water treatment. Looking at the best practices and alternatives available for un-serviced rural households.
Guest speaker Tim Smith of Jack Mountain Bushcraft will join us from Maine as we discuss composting toilets as one alternative to the septic system.

Native Species of Plants and Trees as Natural
Water Filters
This workshop is all about Nature's Solution to Pollution.
Guest speaker Geoffrey Ritchie, author of Trees of Knowledge and David Smith of Save a Plant will come to speak about native tree and plants species and their capcities as water filtres. In the afternoon we will get outdoors to see the filtering qualities of these plant species and participants will take part in a hands-on activity of tree planting.
