Wind

Wind mills in various forms have been used for a long time. They have been used for mechanical applications such as making flour or pumping water. Through gearboxes or powerful magnetic plates, mills have become turbines and now generate electricity.

tiny turbineWind Turbines - Turbines that produce electricity can be found in a wide range of sizes, for use in homes, farms, businesses and also for, large wind farms. A small turbine can be placed in the back yard and raised with a rope and some pulleys, where as a large industrial wind farm may have dozens of turbines each 100 metres tall and producing a hundred Megawatts of electricity or more. The wind turbines featured in these case studies are in the micro to small range, between 300 watts and 10 kilowatts, suited for a cabin, house, or small building.
