Description of Case Study:
This very efficient soapstone masonry stove is produced by Tulikivi and constructed by a local supplier. The soapstone is quarried and cut in Finland, and shipped ready to be assembled.
The stove burns hot, circulating the heat created through the stove to maximize thermal mass and heat retention. The soapstone holds heat and releases it slowly. According to the owners, the stove burns for a few hours, and heats for the rest of the day. The heat is consistent and comfortable. The only maintenance is cleaning out the ash occasionally. |
