The
‘Signs of Change’ project, launched at Old Home Week 2008 in Woodstock, New Brunswick, is the
latest outreach effort by the Falls Brook Centre. The project reminds residents that simple personal actions to reduce
energy use and increase energy efficiency on the road can make a big difference. The new project builds on years of existing knowledge at the Falls
Brook Centre and is targeted to four behaviours that can have a
particularly large impact. Click on the links below to learn more.
- Check your tire pressure weekly,
- Try carpooling to work,
- Turn off you car when waiting more than ten seconds and,
- Buy a fuel efficient
vehicle.
For the next year, the Signs of Change outreach project will engage
Carelton county residents through community presentations and
discussions, radio and newspaper contests, and a series of posters,
ads and stickers that provide helpful reminders to save energy.
Keep an ear out for our contests and look for us at community fairs
and gatherings all through the summer, usually alongside the climate change bus.
Those who meet the Signs of Change team will receive a package with
information about the potential impact of simple measures and
changes you can make to your lifestyle, which will help to reduce
climate chaos causing gas emissions and save your money. Drivers
will be asked to commit to doing some simple measures, like checking
their tire pressure with a guage once a week, and receive a package
with a tire guage and helpful reminder stickers to put on their car
and posters for their home. You too can sign up recieve a welcome package by filling out our Online Pledge
We are looking for community partners throughout the county to assist in delivery of the program. Partners help mobilize the
community members by distributing the pledge packages and organizing
spaces where the community can meet to talk about further actions
they can take to be energy efficient and combat climate change.
Partners can be almost any one or any organization, from municipal
governments and local businesses to a grade school classroom or your
local librarian.
If
you or anyone you know might be interested in becoming a partner of the Signs of change project, send an email to Our Team.
