Experience Visits

Falls Brook staff delivers a comprehensive, hands-on suite of activities and demonstrations for groups. They can be delivered during visits to the centre or while our staff is on the road in the province.

The activities cover topics such as climate change and energy issues, power and energy consumption measurements, renewable energy technology, renewable resource evaluation, and hands-on interaction with real renewable energy systems and components. We also deliver a variety of activities that illuminate and clarify environmental, energy, and technology issues.  Curriculum specific modules are available for middle and high school levels, see our energy kits page for more details.

The Falls Brook Centre onsite demonstrations include wind and solar powered off-grid buildings, various solar water heating systems, examples of high efficiency wood stoves, a solar food drier, a solar powered electric fence, a weather station including wind speed and solar power sensors, a 45 foot small wind generator demonstration, a grid connected solar and wind powered netmetering demonstration, and a small scale biodiesel production facility.

Half day or full day visits aimed at elementary, middle or high school levels can be arranged upon request. The climate change bus platform can also be used where appropriate.
