Excerpt of reflections from one of the participants, Rebecca Tremblay, of our June 2006 trip:

"The next day, we bused it out to the very same community to continue building pilas, which are cement water reservoirs, in the yards of the people. the house were literally shacks made of wood planks and cardboard with tin roofs, and many rocks and dirt in the yards, and little gardens they had started and were proud to show us. We visited a few homes to see their gardens, all very small, but good, since it brought them food, and maybe even some extra to sell, or to give to a neighbour. One woman had a banana tree, and gave us each a fat short sweet banana, and was sooo happy to provide us with one!  So proud and truly generous! wow, the people were impressive. One woman said "Our homes may be small, but our hearts are big, and you are always welcome". It was touching. After the visiting, we started the work, and we did it all day.  At the end of the day, the community set up at piñata for the children, so we got to watch, then they presented us with "agua es vida" (water is life) awesome designed t-shirts and necklaces for all of us made of dried beans, and really pretty!  They were so generous with us and so thankful...our funds helped contribute to the materials for the pilas, and we left some clothing and school supplies and such.

....  I must say that I've had an amazing experience in Honduras. "
