Learn about Vermicomposters and consider getting one set up in your science classroom. Vermicomposters have red wiggler worms in them, which digest raw food scraps into a nutrient-rich fertilizer. This fertilizer, known as castings, makes house plants flourish and gardens bloom. You can purchase red wigglers from companies such as the Jolly Farmer.
